Weather RADAR Station Network MREZHA
MREZHA is the first weather RADAR station network in Russia based on small meteorological RADARs and integrated means of meteorological observation, designed and produced under the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) order.
Created network of the weather RADAR stations includes the X-band weather RADAR Monocle, the meteorological temperature profiler MTP-5, the automated weather observation station AWOS, the satellite communication station VSAT and a cellular modem.
Mobile meteorological posts are based on KAMAZ all-terrain vehicle chassis (other options available), which allows to arrange meteorological support of mass sports and entertainment events, emergency situations prevention and response activities in the shortest possible time.
Stationary meteorological posts do not require capital construction.
MREZHA network solves a problem of immediate presentation of clouds information by using the subscriber stations and/or Web-technologies.
MREZHA provides the following information to a user:
speed and movement direction of clouds
vertical cross-section of RADAR reflectivity along an arbitrary route
vertical profile of RADAR reflectivity at any given point
map of the restored horizontal wind vector field
surface data on air temperature and humidity, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure
temperature profile data up to a height of 1000 m (measurement), up to a height of 15.000 m (calculation)
constant height digital maps for the following products:
- RADAR reflectivity in layers 0-1, 1-2, 2-3,..., 19-20 km in projection onto the horizontal plane
- the radial component of the Doppler velocity in layers 0-1, 1-2, 2 - 3, ..., 19-20 km in projection onto the horizontal plane
- Doppler spectrum width in layers 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, ..., 19-20 km in projection onto the horizontal plane
meteorological phenomena and cloud types
radioecho upper boundary height in projection onto the horizontal plane
radioecho lower boundary height in projection onto the horizontal plane
precipitation intensity according to RADAR reflectivity
accumulated precipitation over time intervals of 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours
vertically integrated water content of clouds (VIL)
